Skin and Soft Tissue Lesions Excision
What it is:
This procedure involves the surgical removal of lesions such as lipomas, sebaceous cysts, ganglion cysts, dermoids, soft tissue tumors, and skin cancer.
Why get this procedure?
These lesions, if left untreated, may cause pain, affect appearance and/or function and lead to infection.
Preoperative Preparation:
Patients undergo standard preoperative evaluation; the surgical area is cleaned and appropriate anesthesia is administered.
What to Expect:
The lesion is excised using appropriate surgical techniques under local, regional or general anesthesia.
Post-Op Care:
Wound care instructions are provided to ensure proper healing and prevent infection. Medications to prevent infection and pain are prescribed.
Follow-Up:
A follow-up visit is scheduled to assess healing and address any complications.
Varicose Veins Treatment
What is the procedure type?
Varicose veins can be treated by open surgery, which involves physically removing or tying off the affected veins, or by EVLA a minimally invasive procedure that uses laser energy to close off the veins.
Why get these procedures?
They are recommended for patients experiencing symptoms such as leg pain, swelling, or ulcers due to varicose veins, or for cosmetic reasons.
Preoperative Preparation:
Patients should avoid eating or drinking for a few hours before the procedure. Compression stockings may be recommended both before and after surgery.
What to Expect:
- Open Surgery: The surgeon makes small incisions to remove or tie off the varicose veins.
- EVLA: A laser fiber is inserted into the vein through a small incision, and the laser is activated to close off the vein.
Post-Op Care:
Patients are advised to wear compression stockings for a few weeks. Walking is encouraged; however, heavy exercise should be avoided.
Follow-Up:
A follow-up visit is required to assess the healing process and check for any complications, such as blood clots.
Breast Lumps Excision
What it is:
This procedure addresses various breast diseases, including fibroadenoma, phyllodes tumor, fibroadenosis, breast cysts, galactocele, and nipple discharges.
Why get this procedure?
Early detection and excision of breast lumps can lead to complete recovery. Surgical techniques may include incisional biopsy, excisional biopsy, wide local excision, or mastectomy with subsequent breast reconstruction. Breast conservation surgery aims to remove the tumor while preserving as much breast tissue as possible, thereby improving cosmetic outcomes.
Preoperative Preparation:
Patients undergo diagnostic imaging and evaluation to determine the appropriate surgical approach.
What to Expect:
The selected surgical technique is performed under appropriate anesthesia, and the extent of surgery depends on the characteristics of the lump.
Post-Op Care:
Postoperative care includes wound management, pain control, and instructions on activity restrictions.
Follow-Up:
Regular follow-up appointments are scheduled to monitor healing and detect any recurrence.

A follow-up visit is required to assess the healing process and check for any complications, such as blood clots.
Hydrocelectomy
What it is:
Hydrocelectomy involves the removal or drainage of a hydrocele, which is a fluid-filled sac surrounding a testicle.
Why get this procedure?
This procedure is performed to relieve discomfort and swelling caused by a hydrocele.
Preoperative Preparation:
Patients receive a thorough evaluation and instructions regarding fasting prior to the procedure.
What to Expect:
The procedure is performed under local / regional or general anesthesia, and the hydrocele is either drained or surgically excised.
Post-Op Care:
Wound care instructions are provided, and patients are advised to monitor for signs of infection.
Follow-Up:
A follow-up visit is scheduled to ensure proper healing.
Podiatric Surgeries
What it is:
Podiatric surgeries address foot and ankle conditions such as bunions, hammertoes, or plantar fasciitis. These procedures are designed to correct deformities, relieve pain, and restore proper foot function.
Why get these procedures?
They are necessary to correct deformities, alleviate pain, and improve foot alignment and function.
Preoperative Preparation:
Patients may need to stop taking certain medications and are advised to fast for several hours before surgery.
What to Expect:
The procedure may involve realignment of bones, removal of damaged tissues, or correction of deformities, depending on the specific condition.
Post-Op Care:
Patients are advised to keep weight off the foot for several weeks; a cast or special shoe may be provided.
Follow-Up:
Regular follow-up visits are necessary to monitor healing and ensure proper foot alignment.
Circumcision
What it is:
Circumcision involves the removal of the foreskin from the penis. It can be performed using traditional surgical methods (open) or with a stapler device.
Why get this procedure?
Circumcision is performed for religious, cultural, or medical reasons, such as phimosis or recurrent infections.
Preoperative Preparation:
Patients (or their guardians) receive advice on hygiene and preoperative care.
What to Expect:
- Open Circumcision: The foreskin is surgically removed using a scalpel.
- Stapler Circumcision: A stapler device is used to cut and close the skin in a single step.
Post-Op Care:
Patients should keep the area clean and avoid physical activity for several days. Pain relief medications may be prescribed.
Follow-Up:
A follow-up visit is scheduled to ensure proper healing and check for any signs of infection.
Amputations and Debridement
What it is:
Amputation is the removal of a limb or part of a limb due to severe trauma or disease. Debridement involves the removal of dead or infected tissue to promote healing.
Why get these procedures?
These procedures are necessary when irreversible damage or infection threatens the patient’s health.
Preoperative Preparation:
Patients undergo a thorough evaluation and are advised to fast before the procedure. Psychological counseling may also be provided.
What to Expect:
- Amputation: The surgeon removes the affected limb or tissue.
- Debridement: Dead tissue is carefully removed to prevent infection and promote healing.
Post-Op Care:
Wound care is critical to prevent infection. Rehabilitation, including physical therapy, is often necessary.
Follow-Up:
Follow-up visits are scheduled to ensure proper healing and to evaluate for any complications, such as infections or recurrence.
Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy
What it is:
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a minimally invasive procedure to remove the gallbladder using small incisions and a laparoscope.
Why get this procedure?
It is commonly performed for patients suffering from gallstones or gallbladder inflammation (cholecystitis).
Preoperative Preparation:
Patients are instructed to fast and avoid certain medications. They should also arrange for assistance at home after the surgery.
What to Expect:
Small incisions are made in the abdomen, and a laparoscope (camera) is inserted to visualize the gallbladder. The surgeon removes the gallbladder using specialized instruments.
Post-Op Care:
Light activity may resume in a few days, but heavy lifting should be avoided for several weeks.
Follow-Up:
Follow-up appointments are scheduled to monitor recovery and assess for any complications.
